Philanthropy

As Bill Evans aptly put it when he first addressed staff at Lincoln Learning Solutions, “We have the most important job: helping children learn.” In the last school year, not only did we team up with Evan-Moor to do that job better, but we also invested nearly $2 million in philanthropic efforts aimed at helping children learn.

We continuously strive to maximize student potential. We are involved, giving back, and making a difference. In a competitive field of education services, this is just one of the ways we set ourselves apart.

Besides the big news of our donation to Hekima Place, here is a look at a sampling of our philanthropic efforts in 2017-2018 (click the hyperlinks to learn more about the organization or program):

  • Three LLS volunteers participated in Rochester School District’s Junior Achievement Day for their Day of Caring.
  • Along with Penn State, we created an endowed scholarship program for students in STEM programming at its Beaver campus.
  • Lincoln Learning Solutions helps to sponsor Penn State’s STE(A)M summer camp for students.
  • Over the past four years, we have given $250,000 to the local United Way branch. Lincoln Learning also supports the United Way in the following ways:
    • Eight volunteers from LLS participated in the United Way’s Day of Caring last September.
    • Ashley Chambers, LLS employee, volunteers on the United Way Allocation Committee.
    • LLS sponsors a food drive for United Way each year.
    • LLS employees can elect to participate in a payroll deduction program. Lincoln Learning Solutions matches all deductions, and all funds raised support the United Way.
  • The LLS curriculum team donated twelve fully loaded backpacks and duffel bags for children going in to foster care through the Foster Love Project in December.
  • Lincoln Learning Solutions partners with Community College of Beaver County to fund high school academies that allow students to explore various career paths and to create the Lincoln Learning Solutions High School Academy Scholarship.
  • Donations from LLS help to fund the Growing with Books Program, which purchases and mails books for 2,500 preschoolers in Beaver County.
  • Lincoln Learning Solutions also supports the Great Idea Mini-Grant Program, which allows teachers to submit ideas for their classrooms for an opportunity to earn a grant.
  • Since 2016, LLS has supported and partnered with Mars Home for Youth, providing hundreds of students in Longmore with dynamic hands-on and engaging arts, music and science programming. This year, in addition to funding for arts and music programming, Lincoln Learning Solutions awarded MHY a grant to launch the Green Bronx Machine.
  • Lincoln Learning Solutions supports The Bradley Center, a behavioral health-care and child welfare provider, in the following ways:
    • LLS makes an annual donation to the Gathering of the Chefs fundraiser.
    • LLS is home to an Angel Tree so staff can buy Christmas gifts for children at the Bradley Center.
    • Staff members are encouraged use their LLS Day of Caring to volunteer to wrap the gifts donated to the Bradley Center.
  • ACH Clear Pathways’ after-school and summer school programs receive the support of LLS.
  • Lincoln Learning Solutions has contributed to Lan Vwa Inc. - Project 2020 Guatemala, which uses online resources in Joconal, Guatemala to bridge education gaps in developing regions. There are no schools in the area, so they use online education.
  • Lincoln Learning Solutions supports the mission of McGuire Memorial to bring fullness of life to their students.
  • LLS helps make it possible for students at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School to attend Berklee Summer Music Program, in addition to supporting the general operation of the school and its arts education and the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.
  • Lincoln Learning Solutions has supported The Education Partnership by donating obsolete inventory to the group, which then identifies and donates the materials to area schools in need of classroom supplies.
  • By supporting Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, LLS allows Beaver County students to receive scholarships to attend its summer camp at Lycoming College and Pennsylvania College of Technology.
  • LLS is a long-standing sponsor of Martian Luther King Day Event run by the Midland Women’s Civic Organization. The money raised at this event supports the Greater Midland Scholarship Fund.
  • Trails Ministries summer college camp receives funding from LLS, which helps to teach students life skills so they can stay in school.
  • Lincoln Learning Solutions supports the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s educational outreach programs in music.
  • Last October, a committee of LLS staff raised $535 in monetary, online, and gift card donations in addition to food, blankets, toys, towels and shelter supplies for the local humane society.
