You may remember that I recently had the good fortune of delivering the news of our substantial contribution to Hekima Place to help build a school for and support orphaned girls in Kenya who don’t have the opportunities we’ve come to take for granted here in the United States. We are so proud to partner in this noble effort.
I learned about Hekima Place through PA Cyber’s CEO, Brian Hayden, who introduced the Pittsburgh-based organization’s founder, Kate Fletcher, to a group of local leaders to tell her story. Well, what a story it is. I hope you’ll read it, because it’s truly uplifting.
The bigger point is that good things happen when people work together. You should know, because, whether you realize it or not, you have partnered with so many others to change lives not only here in our little corner of the world, but across the state, country, and now the world. Beyond all you did to make the holidays brighter for needy children and hungry families, you helped Lincoln Learning Solutions live up to the standard that makes us different – our desire to give back.
As a nonprofit, philanthropically driven organization, we look for opportunities like the one at Hekima Place where we can make education a reality. We support community-based initiatives that help people of all ages to learn and grow. We encourage employee-initiated giving.
As 2019 unfolds, I hope you will all continue collaborating to make a difference in people’s lives. Use your Corporate Day of Service. Our board wholeheartedly supports it because they understand how difficult it is to find the time to volunteer. Yet, they know how valuable employee engagement is to our social responsibility.
While we are on the topic of collaboration, I wanted you to know we are diligently working with Evan-Moor to solidify our partnership. Everyone soon will begin to see this integration at work. You’ll learn a lot more about it in this January edition of the The Bridge.
What a great newsletter name you voted for. It’s appropriate on so many levels, and I thank all of you who participated in the survey to come up with it. Remember that this is your newsletter. For it to succeed as the communications tool we want it to be, we need you to continue to be a partner in its creation as you are a partner in our organization.
Happy New Year!
