George Pacinda, Vice President of Philanthropy at Lincoln Learning, used his Day of Service to champion the Big Brothers Big Sisters program known as Beyond School Walls.
Due in large part to his efforts over the past four months, Lincoln Learning has paired students from Rochester and Freedom Area School Districts with mentors from Lincoln. The mentors guide students through different career and educational paths while providing help and encouragement to facilitate student success in the classroom and beyond.
Each month, the Bigs and Littles meet over lunch at Lincoln Learning’s Beaver office to catch up. They also meet and listen to a corporate speaker from the Beaver community.
George shared that one out of three young people will grow up without a mentor, citing this staggering statistic from the National Mentoring Program as the driving force behind the Beyond School Walls initiative.
George said, “As the Lincoln Learning Solutions corporate lead for Beyond School Walls, I have witnessed firsthand the importance of mentorship and how we as an educational entity can really create a positive impact in these students’ lives.”
